Royal Irish Academy ¿Membership is awarded as public recognition of academic excellence. It is the highest academic honour in Ireland.' (RIA). Approximately 10 Humanities and Social Sciences members are elected each year, and 10 Science members, following peer review and recommendation by the Membership Committee.
