Biography

An Assistant Professor in architecture with a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from E-JUST and Tokyo Tech since 2020. He has an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in architecture since graduating in 2009 from Tanta University. He is one of the few in Egypt who has had a Diploma in the LCA amp; EPD from EPD Egypt since 2021. His doctoral study on the sustainability of High-Performance Glazing Systems and his work with EPD Egypt to issue the first EPD Certificate in Egypt for SANMAR CO. PVC products made him an expert in LCA and sustainability. Dr. Elkhayat has a long experience in teaching and learning methods since he was appointed to be a Teaching Assistant and Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Tanta University, in 2010 and 2015. He has worked as a lecturer in some engineering institutes in Cairo. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including; Architectural Design, Working Drawings, Graduation Projects, Computational Modelling amp; Sustainable Analysis, Building Laws and Legislation, Researchers of Environmental Planning and Design, and Special Studies in Advanced Architectural Design. As a researcher and a supervisor of postgraduate students, Dr. Elkhayat is interested in some research fields, such as; Sustainable and Green Buildings, Sustainable Urban Development, Thermal and Visual Comfort in Buildings, Smart Materials, and Kinetic Facades. Dr. Elkhayat has published several papers high ranked international journals and conferences. He developed an integrated methodology to assess the environmental, economic, and social aspects of HPGSs, especially for the prospective office buildings in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt. An expert with +12 years of experience in green and hi-tech building integrated systems. Since 2010, he has participated in the design of several green architectural and urban projects in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Cameron, including Egypt housing and slum upgrading (UN-Habitat), Economic local housing competition in Egypt, British University in Egypt, Heritage Village in Al-Baha, and Magrabi Eye Center in Yaoundé.
