Biography
Dr Veronica McInerneyAdministrative Director, Advanced Therapies and Cancer Research Group,HRB ClinicalResearch FacilityGalway, is aregistered general nurse with extensive experience in HaematologyOncology and Cell Therapy Clinical Research. Her interest lies in the improvement of health outcomes through clinical research and evidence- based practice. Veronicas research expertise is in research project development and management with a special interest in First in Man, Cell Therapy Research and Quality of Life research. Veronica teaches on the undergraduate and post graduate courses; Nursing, MSC Clinical Research, MSc Regenerative Medicine and MSc Cell Manufacturing and is co-author on several peer reviewed papers. She is a member of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Research Committee and represents nurses nationally on the IrishResearchNurses and Midwifes Network(IRNM) National Executive Committee.
Research Interests
Veronicas primary research interests lie in the development , management and execution of clinical trials and clinical research services to improve patientand population, health and quality of life outcomes. With a keen interest in research practicedevelopment , she managesthe advanced therapies andcancer research team and provides training and education in the research practice tostudents within NUIG andResearch Clinicians
Teaching Interests
Veronicacurrently teaches on the research module for Undergraduate Degree Nursing Studentsand alsodelivers lectures, seminars and workshops on a number ofpost graduate programs- MSC Clinical Research, MSc Regenerative Medicine, MSc CellularManufacturingand Therapy.Veronica has developed a shared moduleinFirstinHuman Early Phase Clinical Trials and leads in the delivery of Good Clinical Practicein Research Trainingat NUIG.In addition to this, she supervisesand supports a number of students and promotes learning throughsummer scholarship programswithin the Clinical Research Facility NUIG.
