Personal profile
Biography
Hi, I am Vasilisa Werner, an assistant professor (lecturer) at the University of Galway.
I joined J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics in September 2025. I am a behavioural and experimental economist. The main focal points of my research are communication and political polarisation. Before joining the University of Galway, I was at the Berlin School of Economics. I completed my doctoral degree at the University of Düsseldorf, Germany, in 2022.
Research Interests
My research interests are behavioral and experimental economics, applied microeconomics, and industrial organization. I focus on understanding behavioral aspects like communication, polarization, dishonesty, and image concerns, as well as market inefficiencies and collusion. I combine theoretical modeling with laboratory and online experiments. In addition to classic statistical methods, I often use natural language processing (machine learning techniques for text analysis) in my research.
