Biography

Tomy Ncube is a multidisciplinary researcher with an interest in climate change, social policy (particularly social protection in its broad sense), the just transition, and sustainable development. He holds a BSc degree in Politics and Public Management (2013-2016) from Midlands State University-Zimbabwe; an MSc in Disaster Management (2018-2020) from the National University of Science and Technology-Zimbabwe; and an MSc in International Development (2020-2021) from University College Dublin, Ireland.
 
He has 5 years experience in humanitarian programming in Africa (Zimbabwe) across disaster response; social protection, and child safeguarding focusing on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). He has held short stints with UN agencies, namely ITCILO/ILO and UNICEF.
 
He is currently pursuing a PhD under the School of Geography, Archaeology and Irish Studies at the University of Galway (Department of Geography) funded by the Hardiman Research Scholarship.
 
His research has been published in renowned outlets such as the International Social Security Review; Climate and Development, World Development Perspectives, and the Communications of the Association for Information Systems. He has presented at leading international migration, climate change, and social protection conferences.
