Biography

Prof Dr Tom Acton is a Professor in Business Information Systems. He was Head of School of Business & Economics at the University of Galway, Ireland for 6 years. Previously, he was College Vice Dean for Teaching & Learning, Discipline Head of Business Information Systems, and Director of Accreditation for the School of Business & Economics. His main research interest is in cybersecurity. His PhD is in information systems, and he holds other qualifications in mathematics, education, software design, commerce and science. He has journal papers, book chapters, conference papers, and a recent textbook on AI, Cybersecurity & Digital Transformation. He has served as associate editor on journals such as the European Journal of Information Systems, and the Journal of Theoretical and Applied E-Commerce Research. Prior to joining the university he worked in the software and private education sectors.
