PROF
Tom Acton is a Professorin Business Information Systems, and current Head of Discipline. He was Head of School of Business & Economics at the University of Galway, Ireland for 6 years. Previously, he was College Vice Dean for Teaching & Learning, Discipline Head of Business Information Systems, and Director of Accreditation for the School of Business & Economics. His main research interest is in cybersecurity. His PhD is in information systems, and he holds other qualifications in mathematics, education, software design, commerce and science. He has a number of journal papers, book chapters, conference papers, and a recent textbook on AI, Cybersecurity & Digital Transformation. He has served as associate editor on journals such as the European Journal of Information Systems, and the Journal of Theoretical and Applied E-Commerce Research. Prior to joining the university he worked in the software and private education sector.
