Simeon is an assistant professor in Business Information Systems (BIS) at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business amp; Economics, University of Galway. Prior to this, Simeon lectured at University College Dublin and Technological University Dublin. He also held positions as a Research Scientist at University College Dublin and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Muenster in Germany, where he served as Managing Director of the Competence Centre for Smarter Work between 2015 and 2020. Previously, Simeon was a Marie Curie Post-Doctoral fellow at LaSalle (Ramon Llull University) in Barcelona. For his PhD studies, he was awarded the Ad Astra Scholarship at the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, University College Dublin, where he also worked as a post-doctoral researcher.Simeon has held various roles within the academic community, including track chair, associate editor, and program committee member for conferences such as ECIS, ICIS, HICSS, and IFIP 8.2. He has also organized multiple editions of the Quadrangular Post-Graduate Conference and the NITIM PhD Schools, in addition to serving as a Board member of NITIM. Simeon is a frequent reviewer for premier IS and Management journals such as MISQ, JIT, and Management Learning.
Simeons research, teaching and consulting interests center on critical study of the relationship between technology and organizations that shape contemporary modes of working, collaborating and managing. He has worked with various organizations and communities in research areas including:- digital innovation and organizational change- critical data and AI studies- virtual and distributed forms of working and organizing- critical approaches to project work and management- communal practices of leadership and entrepreneurship- organizational and inter-organizational communication and conflicts-embodiment and affectivity in new modes of workingSimeon employs a diverse array of methodological approaches in his work, ranging from granular ethnographic to quantitative analytic methods. Additionally, he is a certified facilitator of Lego Serious Play and Design Thinking methodologies, which he applies in his work with different organizations and teams to promote change in thinking, speaking, and acting.
