Biography
Dr. Sharon Coyle is an Assistant Professor in Digital Business and Programme Director for the MSc. Sustainability Leadership at the University of Galway. Sharon previously worked in two of the world’s top 20 Universities (as per QS World University Rankings), including as a Senior Lecturer with the School of Information Systems and Technology Management (SISTM) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, and as a Lecturer at the University of Sydney Business School.
Sharon’s extensive international experience has provided her with deep knowledge and insights into world-class education and research. She is an award-winning educator and holds a Ph.D, a Masters of Business Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Galway. Sharon has held numerous academic roles including academic lead for the design and inaugural delivery of an Executive-Education Systems Innovation Course with the Fleet Air Arm of th e Royal Australian Navy. She has designed and delivered a variety of courses at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Executive Education level receiving several awards for Outstanding Achievement in Education. During her time at UNSW, Sharon worked with the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) in their design and delivery of innovative, experiential courses within their world-renowned MBA Programmes, including MBAX (ranked 4th in the world among the best global online MBA programmes).
Sharon has published and presented her research at leading international IS conferences and industry forums including the International Conference in Information Systems (ICIS), the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS). Her work is also published in leading journals such as IEEE Software, the International Journal of Managing Projects in Business and the International Journal of Intelligent Information Systems. Sharon is particularly interested in research pertaining to educational innovation, adaptive project management, decision making and digital transformation. Prior to joining academia, Sharon gained extensive industry experience in her work as a Management Consultant for Accenture working on a variety of high-profile projects for government bodies and financial services institutes.
