Biography
Shane Darcy is Deputy Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights in the School of Law at University of Galway. He holds a B.A. in Law and Accounting from the University of Limerick (2001), and LL.M (2002) and Ph.D (2005) degrees from University of Galway.
Professor Darcy is the Programme Director of the LLM in International Criminal Law and of the PhD Programme at the Irish Centre for Human Rights. He is the Director of the annual Summer School on the International Criminal Court at University of Galway. Professor Darcy leads the research clusters on Armed Conflict, Humanitarian Law and International Justice and Business and Human Rights.
He has been a visiting scholar at the Legal Studies Department, Central European University, Budapest, the Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School, the Centre for Public International and Comparative Law at University of Queensland and the Law School at Doshisha University in Kyoto.
Professor Darcy is a member of the Editorial Board of the Irish Yearbook of International Law and the Editorial Committee of Criminal Law Forum. He has served on the National Board of Amnesty International's Irish Section and is a member of the Academic Board of the Siracusa International Institute of Criminal Justice and Human Rights.

Research Interests
Research interests are in the fields of international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and business and human rights. Previous work has considered the judicial development of international humanitarian law, the laws of occupation, belligerent reprisals, collective responsibility and punishment, imputed criminal liability and the phenomenon of collaboration in armed conflict. Current research is focused on the laws of war in Ireland 1916-1923.

Introduction to International Criminal Law, Business and Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, Procedure before International Criminal Courts.
