Biography

Dr Mahon is a Lecturer Above the Bar in the Discipline of Economics at University of Galway and is currently Programme Director for the MSc in Health Economics. He is chair of the Health Economics Association of Ireland and is a member of the National Screening Advisory Committee of Ireland. Dr Mahon spent 10 years in various private sector roles, latterly as Head of Value and Access for Novartis Global Business Services, before joining University of Galway in January 2024.

Research Interests

Current research interests include:

  • Estimations of a cost-effectiveness threshold for new health technologies in Ireland
  • Accounting for aspects of equity in health economic evaluation
  • Methods for early value assessment in healthcare
