Personal profile
Biography
Dr. Fleming is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine, at the University of Galway. He also leads the Systems Biochemistry Group within the Digital Metabolic Twin Centre (www.digitalmetabolictwin.org) at the University of Galway. The Systems Biochemistry Group is an interdisciplinary research group of computational and mathematical biologists. Dr. Fleming coordinates the Horizon Europe project "Reconstruction and Computational Modelling for Inherited Metabolic Diseases" www.recon4imd.org (2023-2027).
Research Interests
Fundamental interest is to develop scalable mathematical and numerical analysis techniques that increase the predictive fidelity of biomolecular network models, by incorporating physicochemical constraints, motivated by optimality principles. Applied interest is in the aetiopathogenesis and amelioration of inherited metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.
