Dr Paul Sheridan is the Principal Investigator of the Microbial Genomics Group and a Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Galway. His research uses state-of-the-art genomics and experimental microbiology to improve our understanding of the microbial world and its influence on agriculture, environmental protection, and human health. His research utilizes a combined computation and experimental approach to uncover the fundamental principles of microbial evolution, ecology, and physiology. Throughout his career, Dr Sheridan has studied a wide variety bacteria and archaea from soil, plants, rivers, geothermal vents, marine sponge, aquaculture, livestock, and the human gut.
