Biography

Dr Myles Kingston is a Lecturer in Marketing at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics, University of Galway. His research examines the relationship between culture, branding, media, and public engagement, with a particular focus on how cultural and symbolic resources shape participation in social and environmental issues. His PhD, completed at the University of Limerick, explored the role of visual art in the construction of brand culture at COP26 through an ethnographic lens.

Prior to entering academia, Myles held senior marketing roles, operated branding and design consultancies, and managed his own restaurant business. These experiences continue to inform both his teaching and research.

His current research focuses on cultural branding, consumer culture, social media, visual culture, sustainability communication, and qualitative research methods. He has published on social media and public perceptions of emerging technologies, contributed to Environmental Protection Agency research projects, and presented at leading marketing and management conferences.

Myles teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in marketing and consumer behaviour. His teaching emphasises active engagement, critical thinking, and connecting theory with practice to help students develop both academic understanding and professional capability.
