Biography

Dr. Murray Scott is a College Lecturer in Business Information Systems at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics, and Vice Dean of Internationalisation for the College of Business, Public Policy & Law at University of Galway. Previously he has held the position of Head of Department for Business Information Systems at University of Galway, Ireland.

He received his Ph.D from University of Galway and has over 20 years of experience in the academic environment, and has previously served as visiting Professor at the Kogod School of Business, American University, Washington DC and as external examiner for Dublin City University. Murray’s research has been published in leading international journals and conferences, including the AIS Senior Scholars’ Basket of Journals. Murray is currently Senior Editor for Information Systems Management (ISM) Journal.

His main research interests lie in IS Success, Public Value and Social Information Systems. His current research addresses environmental and sustainability challenges by developing and assessing the effectiveness of innovative models for participative, user-centred engagement using social media platforms. He also publishes in the area of sustainable Supply Chain Management (SCM), investigating the impact of Artificial Intelligence and SCM resilience and performance.

Murray maintains active professional and research links with leading indigenous and multi-national companies including SAP, BearingPoint, Accenture and Storm Technologies. He was awarded the Hewlett Packard Technology for Teaching Higher Education Grant in support of innovative teaching initiatives in the area of international student virtual teams. Murray also won the Guinness IMI Sir Charles Harvey Award for outstanding achievement in business management postgraduate research.
