Dr Muriel Grenon (F) is lecturer in Biochemistry and the founding director of the Cell EXPLORERS science outreach programme (a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http:www.cellexplorers.iewww.cellexplorers.ie ) in the School of Biological amp; Chemical Sciences. The programme provides science activities to the general Public - No restriction and includes equality and inclusiveness in its ethos. After her PhD in molecular genetics in CNRS cancer Institute 01 in Paris, Muriel continued working in the field of cancer biology at Cancer Research UK in London and at the Wellcome Trust Gurdon Institute in Cambridge. She joined the NUI Galway Biochemistry department in 2004 as a senior researcher. She started to lecture Biochemistry and Biotechnology in 2008. Both her extensive research and teaching experiences have been essential to the creation and the success of the Cell EXPLORERS informal education programme linking research, third level education and primary schools. Her areas of expertise are biology,Science outreach amp; education and Public - No restriction engagement in Science. Herresearch interests are informal science education, hands on learning and the use of educational science outreach as a university teaching tool.
