Biography
Michael Coyne is a graduate of NUI Galway where he was awarded Bachelor of Corporate Law and LL.B. degrees before graduating with an LL.M (by Research) in 2005 with a thesis on music piracy and digital rights. He has worked in University of Galway since March 2002, where he is currently the Academic Integrity Support Officer, based at CELT.
He previously worked in the School of Law and in the Access Centre, as a Digital Accessibility Coordinator. Following his primary degrees, Michael graduated with a H.Dip. in Systems Analysis in 2009, and a M.Sc. in Information Systems Management at the Cairnes School of Business and Economics in November 2010.
Research Interests
Information Technology Law, Copyright Law, Digital Accessibility, Information Systems and e-Learning Technologies.
Teaching Interests
Lectured Business Law to part-time B.Comm students via distance learning. Particularly interested in e-learning technology and practices, with extensive training in Blackboard and other VLEs and the provision of distance-learning courses. Trained e-moderator and experienced tutor in a wide variety of fields.
Previously lectured Environmental Law and guest lectured in IT Law, as well as tutoring IT Law, Contract Law & Business Law in the School of Law. Also performed assistant examiner duties in several subjects.
