Biography

Dr Maura Dowling is a registered general nurse with specialist clinical experience in cancernursing. Maura's research interests are in breast cancer survivorship and haematological cancers. Maura's current research activities include three EU co-funded projects (2023-2027) (1. DigiCanTrain -Digital Skills Training for Health Care Professionals in Oncology; 2. EduCanNurs- Towards Cancer Care Continuum Approach in Undergraduate Nursing Education. 3. MELODIC -Mental health support for young adults with cancer).

Maura is co-chair of the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) research working group and is an associate editor with Seminars in Oncology Nursing (Elsevier). Maura's research expertise is in qualitative methodologies and evidence synthesis (qualitative evidence synthesis and scoping reviews).

Maura has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 27 Scopus, October 2024).

Maura is a registered nurse tutor with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and has extensive experience developing postgraduate e-learning programmes and is the programme director of the Master of Health Sciences Postgraduate Diploma (Oncology and Haematology).

Experiences of people living with a cancer diagnosis;qualitative evidence synthesis; phenomenological approaches.

Research methods, qualitative research approaches, qualitative evidence synthesis), haemato-oncology nursing and nursing theory.
