Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Speech & Language Therapy at the University of Galway. Prior to this role, I worked as a paediatric SLT in a range of settings and also as a Lecturer at the University of Dublin, Trinity College. I completed my M.Litt and PhD at the University of Dublin, Trinity College.

  • Representations of people's lived experiences of speech, language, communication and swallowing challenges in newspapers
  • Children's perspectives on being multilingual in Ireland
  • Children's perspectives on having speech differences
  • Professional identity formation in Health & Social Care Professionals
  • Adaptation of assessments to Irish e.g. Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives (Gagarina et al., 2019)
  • Innovative methods: children's drawings, Language Portaits, Lego Serious Play.
