Biography
Prof. Martin Glavin graduated from NUI, Galway in 1997 with a BE in Electronic Engineering, and with a PhD in 2004 in the area of algorithms and architectures for high-speed data communications systems. He was employed as a lecturer (fixed term contract) from September 1999 to December 2003 and became a permanent member of academic staff in January 2004. In 2007 hereceived a Higher Diploma in Third Level Education, and won the NUI Galway presidents award for teaching excellence in 2009. He has worked for over 20 years in collaboration with industry in the area of digital signal processing for automotive, biomedical and agriculturalapplications. He currently has a number of PhD and Postdoctoral researchers working in the areas of signal processing and embedded systems for automotive, biomedical and agricultural applications. He has received funding recently from local industry and from Enterprise Ireland under the Innovations Partnerships and Proof of Concept schemes, and the Research Ireland IvP Scheme. He is a funded investigator in Lero and currently has several projects funded under Lero and SFI.He has published more than 100 peer-reviewedjournal papers and more than 80 peer-reviewed conference papers. He is joint director of the Connaught Automotive Research(CAR) Group at University of Galway since 2005 .
