Research Interests

My Ph.D. dissertation focused on the use of classroom research tools for enhancement ofthe language classroom at university level. The case study I developed enabled student voices to lead and discuss current language teaching and learning approaches and provided the tools for a continuous assessment of teaching by students, more relevant that student feedback at the end of the module. I aim to support research on language teaching and learning for the development of independent-learning, intercultural and creative competences.

I am also translating and doing research on Children and YA fiction, mainly on translation of children character identity, the treatment of taboo topics through cultures and the readership response in these texts and audiovisual materials.

One of my latest research interests is on how to apply Children/Young Adult inclusive practice to the literary and translation industries.

I speak Spanish as my first language, English (C2) as my home language and Irish (B1) as my beloved language. I dabble in Portuguese (B1). I feel more comfortable in this four languages when it comes to research with or on them but I am interested in languages in general.
