Biography

Professor Hodgins is a member of the Discipline of Health Promotion and Director of the Health Promotion Research Centre.Professor Hodgins is an active researcher in the area of workplace health, in particular the effects of bullying and harassment on workers. She was a member of the executive board of the International Association for Workplace Bullying and Harassment for 5 years, just stepping down in 2024 from the position of secretary. She has published extensively on this topic. She was Principal Investigator on the Irish Workplace Behaviour Study a national study on workplace bullying, violence and incivility in 2018. Professor Hodgins has developed blended learning material for course modules on the MA in Health Promotion and is co-editor of a text book on Health Promotion Settings with Dr. Angela Scriven from Brunel University. She has recentlyco-authored a text on Workplace Health Promotion with Professor Paul Fleming (University of Southampton) and Mr John Griffith (Work2Health, Cardiff).Dr.Hodgins has been at the University of Galway since 1995, first as Director of the Social Care programme and then as Director of the MA in Health Promotion, prior to her position asHead of the School of Health Science between 2013 and 2017. Sheworked previously at Waterford IT and in the private sector aftercompletingher undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Trinity College, Dublin.
