Biography

Dr. Lukasz Porwol (Luke) is the E-Gov Unit Leader at the Insight, University of Galway. He is an SFI Research Fellow with Fidelity Investments and Head of Sponsorship at MIT Reality Hack. His research focuses on leveraging digital technologies such as social media and eXtended Reality to support effective communication and collaboration in the context of e-Participation and Media Convergence. Luke has over 15 years of experience as a lead and principal investigator coordinating work in various European Commission and Enterprise-funded research and innovation projects (1 - 4 million EUR) in the domain of XRARVR, e-Participation, e-learning, Open Data and Cloud Computing. Luke is a registered trainer delivering courses in partnership with Urbantide Ltd. in Data Analytics and Visualization to the Irish Government. Luke was a two-term elected board member and the secretary at Digital Government Society based in California, USA. He is a registered ODI (Open Data Institute, London) trainer and official Medley (Elsevier) Advisor for Ireland. Moreover, Lukasz was one of the founding directors for the Computer amp; Communications Museum of Ireland Ltd.
