Biography
Dr Lorraine Burke is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Childrens Studies.Lorraine completed an MA, and most recently a PhD, in Health Promotion at University of Galway, where her research focused on factors influencing early sexual initiation among adolescents in Ireland. She also holds a BSc in Physiology also from University of Galway.She has previously worked as a research assistant on the Irish Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study (Health Promotion Research Centre), as well as post-doctoral researcher on the Active* Consent Programme (School of Psychology), leading on research into consent attitudes and behaviours, sexual violence and harassment,as well as designing and evaluating consent education resources.Lorraines research interests include child, adolescent and young adult health and health behaviours; sexual health and behaviour; consent education; quantitative, qualitative and participatory research methods with a particular focus on child and youth participation.
