Biography
Laurie is a post-doctoral researcher in the Health Promotion Research Centre at the University of Galway. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in psychology at the Université de Mons, Belgium and holds a PhD in psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada. Her PhD research investigated the effect of participating in extracurricular activities on the well-being of youth developing in context that may be considered extreme, specifically in the south of Madagascar. Her research interests focus on ways to foster youth optimal development, challenging contexts of development and the determinants of well-being for young people. She has a particular interest on participatory research methodologies/ public and patient involvement (PPI) in research. She is currently working on the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Study (HBSC).
