Personal profile

Biography

I am the programme director for the BA Global Media at University of Galway in Ireland where we are helping equip students with the media and technology expertise they need to navigate a rapidly changing digital communications landscape.  I teach modules ranging from media literacy to technology and media to data in the undergraduate and graduate programmes.

Outside the classroom, I design and deliver evidence-based training programmes that equip women candidates across Ireland with the tools to navigate online harassment, combat systemic barriers, and campaign with confidence. Since 2024, my non-partisan initiatives have directly trained 50+ women through strategic partnerships with See Her Elected, the Irish Local Government Association, and a cross-border collaboration with NILGA.

Research Interests

My research focuses on the ways in which media technologies are impacting journalism and society. I am particuarly interested in how technology is reinforcing rather than challenging longstanding inequities in society.
