Biography

Dr Reddington is a lecturer on the Microbiology pathway in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciencesat University of Galway. Her research focuses on the development of innovative solutions for infectious disease diagnostics and public health microbiology. Of particular interest to her research group is the application of whole genome sequencing in clinical microbiology, both from human and healthcare environmental reservoir samples. Dr Reddington was a member of the National Coronavirus Sequencing Consortium and was a member of the HSE COVID19 Laboratory R+D Product Solutions Group. Dr Reddingtonis also the chair of Research and Innovation for the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences.

Research interests include Molecular based infectious disease diagnostic; Clinical and environmental microbiology; Whole genome Sequencing; Antimicrobial Resistance Detection; Implementation of whole genome sequencing approaches to public health microbiology

Coordinator of 3rd Year Microbiology. Module owner and lecturer on a number of undegraduate and postgraduate programmes
