Biography

Dr Kate Harvey is Head of Discipline for Childrens Studies. She has been a Lecturer in Childrens Studies and Director of the BA with Childrens Studies since 2017, having joined the Childrens Studies programme in 2013. Previously, she worked as an occasional lecturer in Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. She teaches courses in childrens literature and culture across the undergraduate Childrens Studies programmes. She holds a B.A. and Ph.D from Trinity College Dublin, an M.A. from Kings College London, and a Costume Making Certificate from the Northern College of Costume. Dr Harveys research interests include transmedial adaptation for children, Shakespeare in childrens media, theatre for young audiences, animation, and costume and clothing in childrens culture.Sheisaformercommitteememberof theIrish Societyfor theStudyofChildrensLiterature (ISSCL) andsheoccasionallyreviews new childrensbooksforChildrensBooksIreland (CBI).
