Biography

Josephine is Associate Director/Year Head of the Undergraduate BComm (Global Experience) degree, and lectures in the arenas of strategic management and international business. Her research interests and expertise lies within and across the fields of capability development in high-technology multinationals, female entrepreneurship, and scaling. She publishes research and supervises PhD students across these research areas. One of her PhD student was runner-up in Academy of Management (Academy of International Business-UKI) Pavlos Dimitratos Best Dissertation Award. She has won several best paper awards at major international conferences, namely, the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM) 2023, Academy of International Business (AIB-UKI) with the overall best conference paper award sponsored by Palgrave Macmillan prize (2023), British Academy of Management (BAM), (2019) and Irish Academy of Management (IAM) 2024. Her paper was also nominated in Research Methods Best Paper award at Strategic Management Society Conference (San Francisco) 2025. In Autumn 2022, Josephine was a visiting researcher to the Department of International Business at Florida International University (FIU), USA. She is a member of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Growth and Scaling.

She has held the positions of MSc Academic Programme Director for the award-winning MSc International Management, and also the MSc Strategy, Innovation and People Management, and, previous to this, MBS in Strategy & People Management, leading both programmes through 2 quality assessments. In her time as Programme Director, both of these programmes were shortlisted for Grad Ireland Best Postgraduate Programme in Business. She was Chair of PhD Research Committee for the Discipline, managed the International Seminar Series and sat on the University Exam Appeals Committee. Josephine served for 6 years as the Ireland Country Representative on European International Business Academy (EIBA). She is currently External Examiner at University of Maynooth, and has held previous External Examinerships at University of Limerick, Sligo Institute of Technology and Waterford Institute of Technology, and has acted as PhD External Examiner nationally and internationally.

She was twice nominated for the University Excellence in Teaching Award, where participation in collaborative online international learning, is a key cornerstone of her teaching method.
