Biography

Heather Helen was appointed Midwfery Lecturer to the School of Nursing and Midwifery in March 2024. Heather has been involved in Midwifery education since the introduction of the BSc in Midwifery in 2006. She completed a Masters in Midwifery in University of Galway in 2009. She has extensive midwifery clinical experience working in various roles within University Hospital Galway including Midwifery Management, Clinical Placement Coordinator, Clincial Skills Facilitator and most recently as Midwifery Practice Development Coordinator.

Heather is passionate about all aspects of midwifery including the promotion of normalilty and the role of the midwife in provide normal midwifery care. She has a keen interest in simulation based learning and is currently undertaking a postgraduate diploma in Healthcare Simulation and Pateint Safety in the University of Galway.
