Personal profile

Research Interests

Experienced biomaterials scientist and translational nanomedicine researcher with a strong focus on the design and engineering of advanced therapeutic delivery systems for inflammatory diseases. My research integrates polymer science, nanotechnology, and biophysical characterization to develop biomaterial-based platforms that enable localized, controlled, and route-specific drug delivery, particularly for gastrointestinal disorders. My work centres on the rational design of charge-responsive nanoparticles, polyelectrolyte-based systems, and hybrid nano–hydrogel platforms for oral and rectal administration. I investigate how material properties—such as surface chemistry, particle size, and electrostatic interactions—influence mucosal adhesion, cellular uptake, barrier modulation, and immune responses in inflammatory environments. By combining materials engineering with cellular and molecular evaluation, I aim to elucidate how engineered therapeutic systems interact with diseased tissue and how these interactions can be leveraged to improve efficacy and safety. I employ comprehensive physicochemical characterization alongside 2D and 3D in vitro models to assess biocompatibility, controlled release behaviour, and downstream cellular effects. My broader goal is to bridge fundamental materials design with clinically translatable solutions that enhance therapeutic precision, reduce systemic side effects, and improve patient outcomes.
