Biography

Geraldine is a Lecturer in Podiatric Medicine and Regional Placement Coordinator at the University of Galway. Geraldine has previously worked in The New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, USA, where she taught medical students about the lower limb and guest lectured at Harvard Medical School on orthopaedic surgery of the forefoot, midfoot, rear foot and ankle. In 2019, Geraldine returned to Ireland and commenced working in private practice, caring for a wide range of patient groups. 

She has also held roles as Clinical Manager and Senior Podiatrist across diverse clinical settings, including Diabetes, High Risk Foot, Musculoskeletal Medicine, Surgery, Wound Care, Routine Care, and Rheumatology. During this time, she gained extensive experience in clinical leadership and student supervision. 

Geraldine graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry in 2016, and in 2024 completed a PgCert in Teaching and Learning as well as a PgDip sa Ghaeilge. She is currently undertaking an MPhil in Podiatric Medicine, focusing on practice education training in Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, with a particular interest in barriers, solutions, and protocols to enhance the quality of clinical education. 

Geraldine has a keen interest in practice education, neurology, anaesthetics, injection therapy and surgery. She has lectured internationally and is actively involved in public engagement, most notably through her work with the Science Festival, where she organises the Teddy Bear Hospital Podiatry Clinic to promote awareness of podiatry and healthcare among children and the wider community.
