Prof. Georgina Gethin, PhD, MSc Clinical Research, RGN, PG Dip Wound Healing, Dip Anatomy, Dip Applied Physiology, FAAN, FFNMRCSI Prof. She was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing in 2024. Georgina is currently Editor of Journal of Wound Management. Her background is in wound healing and tissue repair and through this has supported PhD and MSc students to graduation while also teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level on this topic area. Her specialist areas of interest are in epidemiology of wounds, wound bed assessment incorporating wound pH and temperature, palliative wound care . She holds reseach funding from Research Ireland, Health Research Board of Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland and has over 8million in research funding.

In 2017 she was appointed Funded Investigator with CURAM - research Ireland centre for medical devices where she collaborates on multi-disciplinary research projects on pain, odour, wound pH and wound temperature.

My primary area of interest is in wound science. This includes assessment of the wound bed and the development of diagnostic and objective wound assessment tools including that of wound pH. The use of honey in wound healing and the management of chronic wounds.Palliative wound care.Evidence based practice and in particular randomised controlled trials of interventions .
