Biography

Enda joined the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science in 2005 from the School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science and Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research at University College Dublin. He holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Microbiology (First Class Honours) and a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from UCD, where he examined the regulation of virulence gene expression in the intracellular equine pathogen Rhodococcus equi .In his role as Senior Technical Officer in the College of Science and Engineering, Enda manages the University of Galway Genomics and Screening Core Facility, supporting biomedical research in areas including stem cell biology, drug discovery and cancer biology. His work there includes assay design and development, operation of robotic and high content imaging equipment and primary screening, while also training researchers in genomics and imaging techniques.Enda is also the Founding Director of the Science Foundation Ireland fundedReelLIFE SCIENCE (a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http:www.reellifescience.comwww.reellifescience.com ) Public - No restriction engagement programme. Since 2013, the programme has engaged more than 27,000young people in STEMin 750schools and community groups around Ireland.

Enda is the High Throughput Screeningpractical director for the MSc Biomedical Science programmes (Full Time and Distance Learninga target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http:www.nuigalway.iecoursestaught-postgraduate-coursesbiomedical-science.htmlhttp:www.nuigalway.iecoursestaught-postgraduate-coursesbiomedical-science.html ) and also supports the MSc Cheminformatics and Toxicology and MSc Cancer Biology programmes.
