Biography

Emily Gray is a third-year PhD student in Geography at the University of Galway. Her research focuses on community engagement in energy transitions and the experimental governance of the European Green Deal. She is part of the Horizon 2020 project SHARED GREEN DEAL, where she led research on community visioning for clean energy futures in three locations in Europe (Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom).

She previously worked in the non-governmental sector, where she coordinated environmental and human rights research and communications, and as a teacher. She holds an MA in international policy studies from Stanford University, an MST in general education (grades 1-6) from Fordham University, and a BA in global affairs and political science from Yale University.

Research Interests

Emily Gray's research interests include the geographies of energy and energy transition, participatory-action research and community geography, energy futures, experimental governance, and European and local energy community policy.
