Biography

Ellie has strong clinical background in mental health nursing in acute adult and acute dementia assessment unit and community care . She worked in a clinical nurse specialist capacity in older persons mental health for several years before joining the University of Galway in 2022. She is a registered nurse prescriber and has a special interest reducing mediation related harm in mental health through education and interprofessional collaboration. Ellie has experience working with people experiencing substance use and dual diagnosis .She has a postgraduate diploma in Nursing ( Dementia ), post graduate certification in CBT from Trinity Collegeand a MSc in Public - No restriction health from the School of Medicine University of Limerick .Since joining the mental health faculty in University of Galway she teaches across the undergraduate mental health programme and leads a module on dementia care at post graduate level .
