Biography

Deirdre Callanan is a graduate of N.U.I., Maynooth, N.U.I. Galway and of the University of Salford, where she was awarded a Masters Degree in Health and Safety Law amp; Environmental Law. She is a staff member of N.U.I. Galway since July 2004, where she is teaching in the area of Health and Safety Law. She has worked in the Public - No restriction sector with R.T.É and Athlone Institute of Technology. She is also a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety amp; Health. Deirdre is currently undertaking a PhD under Prof. William Binchy in the area of Health and Safety Law at Trinity College, Dublin. Her thesis title is Protecting Employees Rights to Health and Safety Law within the workplace. A Substantive and Empirical Study of the Position in Ireland with recommendations for reform.
