Biography

Bronnadh céim dhochtúireachta sa tSean- agus Meán-Ghaeilge ó Choláiste na hOllscoile, Corcaigh, ar Clodagh Downey i 2002. Ó shin i leith, tá sí i mbun teagaisc agus taighde i réimsí éagsúla an Léinn Cheiltigh, agus i dteanga na Sean- agus na Meán-Ghaeilge agus litríocht mheánaoiseach na hÉireann go príomha. Tá tréimhsí caite aici mar léachtóir agus mar thaighdeoir i gColáiste na hOllscoile, Corcaigh, Ollscoil Cambridge Shasana, Institiúid Ard-Léinn Bhaile Átha Cliath, agus in Ollscoil na Gaillimhe.

Clodagh Downey graduated with a PhD in Early and Medieval Irish from University College, Cork in 2002. Since then, she has worked in lecturing and research in various areas of Celtic Studies in University College Cork, University of Cambridge, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and University of Galway. Her teaching and research interests include Old and Middle Irish language, the literature of medieval Ireland, including heroic, mythological and king-tales, and dindshenchas.

Teaching Interests

Old Irish language and literature; medieval Irish history, law, culture and society; learned traditions in medieval Ireland; Celtic and Irish mythology.
