Biography

Christina Lydon is an Assistant Professor in General Nursing at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Galway. I am a registered general nurse and registered nurse tutor with 20 years experience in healthcare. I have experience in medical, surgical and perioperative nursing. I have management experience at Clinical Nurse Manager 2, Clinical Nurse Manager 3 and Assistant Director of Nursing level. I am a Lecturer in Nursing and teach on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. I am module lead for undergraduate and postgraduate modules. I am the Director of Undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery programmes. I am a member of the HEI/NMBI Working Group for the Implementation of Standards 5 and 6 (NMBI Standards 2025). I am involved in curriculum development for updating the undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes in accordance with the NMBI Standards. I am a member of the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences Learning, Teaching and Assessment Committee. I am a member of the University Research Ethics Committee. I have a PhD from Trinity College Dublin. My research interests include undergraduate and postgraduate education, teaching methodologies and assessment, clinical education, and resilience. I am involved in the EduCan NURS, and Nurse Dial Research projects. I am a reviewer for JBI Evidence Synthesis Journal.
