Teaching Interests

Currently teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. At a postgraduate level the majority of teaching within the School is delivered by a blended learning approach which is a supportive online learning combined with facilitated workshops. I was responsible for the development and updating of the quantitative research modules on all the masters programmes alone with the delivery and facilitation of the quantitative workshops. I deliver all the SPSS training and supervise and support a large number of masters students undertaking their Research Projects. I was one of the developers of the Physical Assessment Modules for all relevant postgraduate programmes. I am currently the Module leader for these modules which is taken by students on The Certificate of Prescribing Programme, the Masters in Advanced practice programme the Acute Assessment Programme and the Public - No restriction Health Nurse programme. At undergraduate level the teaching is a combination of large lectures supported by seminar workshops (20 student) and a very high proportion of clinical skills teaching and simulations. I have a specific interest in clinical simulations and scenario based learning. The main focus of undergraduate teaching is focused on chronic disease management, acutely ill adults and the fundamentals of research. I am also heavily involved in preparation of the 4th year students for the transition from students to staff nurses in the 4th year of the programme. Nationally I am actively involved with COCHRANE Ireland with teaching the two Day introduction to Cochrane systematic reviews.
