Biography
Dr Azka Umair is a Lecturer in Business Information Systems at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics, University of Galway. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Information Systems from the University of Galway. Her research interests include technostress, temporal aspects of digital work, online labour markets, use of algorithms and worker well-being in digital platforms. Specifically, her work explores the use of emerging digital technologies and their implications for individuals, organizations, and society.
Previously, she served as a Postdoctoral Researcher on a project focused on digital responsibility, funded by Lero, the SFI Research Centre. Her research adopts a multidisciplinary approach, integrating concepts and theories from Organizational Behaviour, Management, and Information Systems. She has expertise in both quantitative analytical tools and qualitative research methods.
In addition to her research, she teaches a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Information Management for Business, Business Systems Analysis, Decision Theory, AI and Analytics, and Applied Analytics in Business and Society.
