Biography

Aoife Lowery is a Consultant Surgeon at Galway University Hospital and Associate Professor in the Discipline of Surgery, University of Galway. She is also the Director of the HRB-Clinical Research Facility in Galway. Aoife's research interests focus on translational and clinical research innovations for cancer, in particular breast and endocrine cancer. She is a currently the recipient of Clinical Research Leadership award and is leading the Galway arm of the Irish Cancer Society's Womens Health Initiative. Aoife teaches on the Undergraduate Medical Education Programme at University of Galway and is a member of the Irish Clinical Academic Training (ICAT) steering committee. As clinical advisor in the Bioinnovate Ireland she is a co-investigator with DTIF-funded Luminate Medical and Endowave .

Research Interests

Aoife's interests focus on translational and clinical research innovations for cancer, in particular breast and endocrine cancer. She is the Director of the HRB-Clinical Research Facility Galway and principal investigator of the cancer survivorship Womens Health Initiative, funded by the Irish Cancer Society and the National Breast Cancer Research Institute. As clinical advisor in the Bioinnovate Ireland she is a co-investigator with DTIF-funded a Luminate Medical and Endowave. 

Teaching Interests

Professor Lowery teaches on the Undergraduate Medical Education Programme at University of Galway. She is a clinical advisor to the Bioinnovate Ireland programme and a member of the Irish Clinical Academic Training (ICAT) steering committee.
