Biography

Múineann Aodh Ó Coileáin Dlí na Meán, Eiticí, agus gnéithe eile de na meáin.  Tá taithí aige mar iriseoir, agus mar scannánóir, bhuaigh scannáin fhaisnéise dá chuid duaiseanna idirnáisiúnta.  D'oibrigh sé mar eagarthóir nuachta, fostaithe ag RTÉ ar feadh beagnach deich mbliana.

Chaith sé treimhse ina Chathaoirleach ar an Taibhdhearc, Amharclann Náisiúnta na Gaeilge.  Tráchtann sé ar na meáin faoi chúrsaí cultúir agus na meán go tráthrialta.

Bhí sí ina stiúrthóir agus ina chathaoirleach ar an gcomhlacht Tearmann Dúlra Loch Gréine, eagras neamhbhrabúis atá ag iarraidh ceantar i gCo. an Chláir a luaitear leis an bhfile Brian Merriman a chaomhnú.

Aodh Ó Coileáin's career has spanned higher education, journalism, and filmmaking.  He teaches Media Law, Ethics, and Journalism.

As a television journalist, specializing in politics and law, he served as News Editor in Ireland’s national public service broadcaster, RTÉ, and, as a filmmaker, he has directed internationally acclaimed documentaries. Fís na Fuiseoige/The Lark’s View (TG4, 2016) won Best Cinematography at the 2016 Earth Day Film Festival, San Francisco, Best Documentary at the London Irish Film Festival, 2016, and an Impact Award at La Jolla, California, 2017. His Cumar—A Galway Rhapsody (TG4, 2019) won Best Documentary at the London Irish Film Festival in 2019.

He regularly contributes to national media on cultural matters and media-related issues, and he is active in arts circles, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of An Taidhbhearc, Ireland’s national theatre for Irish-language drama, in 2016–21.
