Biography

CURRENT AND PREVIOUS POSITIONS 2008 present: Lecturer in Physics at the NUI Galway 2003 2008: Post-doctoral researcher at the Applied Optics group, Department of Exprimental Physics, NUI Galway, Ireland. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 1998 2003: PhD studies Department of Astronomy, Lund University, Sweden. Thesis: Extremely Large Telescopes: Optical Design and Wavefront Correction. PhD graduation date: 30 March 2003.1992 1998: Undergraduate studies: Moscow Bauman State Technical University, Department of Radio-electronics and Laser Techniques, M. Sc. in Optical Engineering, graduated with distinction in 1998.

Research Interests

My main area of interest is optical design of imaging systems for astronomy, opthalmology and consumer devices.During my PhD studies I was working on telescope optics and new concepts in astronomical adaptive optics and wavefront sensing.Currently, I am doing research in vision science including eye optical modeling, eye characterisation using new ophthalmic instruments as well as customization of contact lenses and intra-ocular lenses for vision enhancement.
