Biography

Alan obtained a BSc in Applied Physics and Electronics (First) and an MSc in Applied Physics from the University of Galway, and since then has focussed on the development of applications research at the National Centre for Laser Applications (NCLA). Currently a Research Fellow at the NCLA, he utilises a range of laser materials processing technologies but his primary interest lies in the use of short pulse and ultrashort pulse lasers for diverse applications in the medical device manufacturing, precision engineering and electronics sectors.
