Im interested in taking full advantage of the the new paradigm in computational notebooks (such as Jupyter notebookslabs and the use of RStudio) as a powerful means of teaching students how to fully engage with practically oriented material. The beauty of the notebooks (either in Python (Jupyter) or R (R-studio)) is that are easily adapted to encourage play based learning around the topic at hand. This is exactly how scientific researchers develop their skills and programming abilities, and so offers students precisely the same means to learn techniques and domain expertise. I am also interested in exploring how self-efficacy, in particular research self-efficacy can be enhanced during this learning process.
