Biography

Éamon is a graduate of NUI, Galway having completed a BA in French and Irish there in1999. After teachingat the Université de Bretagne-Sud, Lorient the following year, he returned to Galway to complete an MA in French and has been teaching with the department since then. Éamon teaches French language and translation through the medium of Irish at all levels of the undergraduate programme. He also lectures on French Chanson and Cinema. He has also taught in the applied languages sector. Éamons PhDfocuses attention on the social significance of the automobile as a mode of individual and communal transport, and, particularly, of cultural representation.His research interests include The development of space in 20th-Century France, 20th-Century French culture and French tourism and recreation. He is also a member of Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge and is coordinator of the online BA sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach and Ard-Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach Éamon is actively interested in teaching and learning having recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice. He has a strong interest in language acquisition, particularly in the domain of on-line learning. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Academic Practice, in which his thesis investigates Online Language Learning for Adult Learners.
