Overview of our Research

Our school hosts a vibrant research community with 38 full-time academic staff and a thriving group of post-doctoral and PhD researchers. Our research spans a wide range of topics in

  • Pure and Applied Mathematics: algebra, combinatorics, mathematical and quantum computing, and analysis, modelling and finding solutions to engineering challenges
  • Statistics, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics: development and application of statistical and computational methods for clinical and biological data. 

The school has a strong international reputation for both quantity and quality of outputs, and attracts substantial external funding. Our researchers regularly deliver keynote lectures at international conferences and regularly organise international conferences, workshops and mini-symposia. Several members of staff play leadership roles in prestigious learned societies and journal editorial boards.
