Organisation profile
Overview of our Research
The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBCS) delivers cutting edge research in modern day biological and chemical sciences. In pursuit of environmental and social sustainability for the future the activities within the school align within two key thematic areas, Sustainable World and Health and Discovery.
Our vision is to deliver cutting edge research within the biological and chemical sciences field. In doing so establishing its position as a centre of excellence in the pursuit of environmental and social sustainability. The activities within the school are research-led and aligned within four key areas: Sustainable World, Infectious Disease, Molecules & Materials and Molecular Biosciences.
Our vision is to be a global leader in research, fostering innovation that advances environmental and social sustainability. We take a research-led approach, focusing on four core areas:
- Sustainable World – Addressing environmental challenges through scientific innovation.
- Infectious Disease – Advancing research to combat global health threats.
- Molecules & Materials – Exploring the chemistry of new materials and molecular interactions.
- Molecular Biosciences – Unravelling the complexities of life at the molecular level.
With expertise spanning Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Plant & Agri Bioscience, and Medical Technologies, we collaborate internationally with academic, governmental, medical, and industry partners to maximise research impact.
By fostering interdisciplinary innovation, SBCS aims to be a global leader in scientific discovery, shaping a more sustainable and healthier future.
