Overview of our Research

Mechanical engineering at the University of Galway features a multi-disciplinary group of internationally renowned researchers. Our research aims to improve quality of life and to solve the world’s most challenging problems through the development and application of principles in engineering, physics, and mathematics.

Our research areas include: Mechanics and Materials, Design and Manufacturing, Robotics and Dynamics, Biomechanics and Medical Devices, Acoustics, Thermofluids and Energy Systems, and Engineering Management and Innovation.
